Confidentiality/Privacy

Your privacy is important to us.  Confidentiality is crucial to establishing and maintaining a trusting relationship with your provider.  We understand the importance of being able to talk freely with your provider and not fear your information will leave the room. All patient sessions are confidential.  Patient information cannot be released without the written consent of the patient.

The following are exceptions:

  • If there is suspected abuse of a child, elder, or person with disabilities, providers are required by the state of Maryland to report the incident to the appropriate authorities.

  • If the patient poses an imminent threat to either self, provider, or a third party, providers must notify someone capable of taking action to reduce the threat. In some cases, law enforcement may be notified.

  • A judge’s court-order.
